Ive been eating better, he admitted. Ive been trying to come up with a joke about how Ive lost weight and I was going to say, I stopped putting nuts in my sundaes. Apparently, hes lost about 100 pounds. Roughly. I never weighed myself when I was at my fattest, because I was scared I might die, he said. Hes been working out, too.

Miami Dolphins

Dolphins dealing for draft picks?

Everyone is in play, one source told the paper. Ted Ginn, Justin Smiley(notes), Ronnie Brown(notes), and Tyler Thigpen(notes) are also supposedly at the top of the heap of players the Dolphins would like to send packing in exchange for picks.

The Baltimore Ravens and Carolina Panthers supposedly have some interest in wide receiver Ginn, who pulled in 38 receptions last year for Miami, good for 454 yards and one touchdown. Former Dolphins coach Cam Cameron is now running the show in Baltimore and he is supposedly a fan of Ginns.

Miami Dolphins: Will Jason Taylor meet with Tony Sparano?

So apparently theres a Chris Mortensen ESPN-TV report out there about a planned meeting between Tony Sparano and Jason Taylor at some point this week.

However, a Dolphins source tells the Sun Sentinels Omar Kelly thats news to him, and were still trying to confirm this report with Taylors camp.

If true and Mortensen is as plugged-in as they come that would be a good sign for Dolphins fans still hoping to see the team retain one of its most decorated players in franchise history.

Really, it would be the first positive sign yet in terms of a possible 13th season for JT in South Florida.

I stand by my report on Friday in which a Taylor associate said a deal with the Jets is close to done. Just because nothing has been announced doesnt mean the two sides have much more to talk about. Basically, reading between the lines, the NFLs active sacks leader is sitting back and pondering how he wants to close out a Hall of Fame career.

In the meantime, agent Gary Wichard went on Sirius NFL Radio early this evening and had some interesting things to say about Taylors two-day visit last week with the Jets and his personal feelings on whether hed like to see Taylor jump to his longtime rival.

Truthfully its really kind of in Jasons hands, Wichard told hosts Howard David and Pat Kirwan. We told him wed be speaking to him a little later in the week. Nothing has changed.

Jason went up there. Hes never been a free agent. He wanted to see what the situation was. Rex [Ryan] was very aggressive in going after Jason, so he wanted to have an opportunity to see what it was. He was pretty excited, to be honest, about their program and what they want to do. Now its really between his wife and he and moving the family, etc.

The hosts did not ask Wichard about Mortensens repot about a potential Sparano-Taylor summit this week, but the agent said again that Taylor and Tony have a great relationship.

After the draft, if [Taylor] doesnt go to New York, thats probably where hell end up, Wichard said of the Dolphins.

The Jets have not set a deadline for Taylor to make up his mind regarding their offer, Wichard said.

You know, they really havent, which was good, Wichard said. A prerequisite of the whole thing was Jason and Katina getting up there and spending time with Rex and meeting the players and seeing what Madison, N.J., was all about.

Then [the Jets] said, Just go back and figure it out. I dont think it will be anything lengthy as far as that goes, and I dont think it would be fair to not do it before the draft if that was the situation.

Asked how he thought Jets fans might receive him and whether Taylor was wary at all about that, Wichard laughed.

As a matter of fact, he loves playing up in New Jersey there and loves the fans because theyre so passionate, Wichard said. He gets a kick out of it. Hes kind of said things to incite Fireman Ed and some of the Jet fans.

What he digs is the passion. He always liked that. He always wanted to play in front of people like that. Whether it was up in New York or in Miami or wherever they went. He got a kick out of it and just enjoyed the kind of banter back and forth over the years.

And then came the final JT-related question for an agent who also represents likely 2010 first-round draft picks Jimmy Clausen, C.J. Spiller, Taylor Mays and Everson Griffen, just to name a few.

Would Wichard himself, a former C.W. Post All-America quarterback who grew up on Long Island, like to see Taylor sign with the Jets?

Me? Absolutely. Absolutely, he said in a typical burst of honesty. First of all, [Ravens linebacker and Wichard client] Terrell Suggs told me once every defensive player should be able to play one year with Rex Ryan. Thats kind of what I said to Jason, I think, when I finally convinced him to go up there.

[Ryan] has just got an unbelievable way of motivating guys, and I know sometimes he speaks kind of unfiltered and gets himself in trouble. He embraces his guys and his guys embrace him. Ive watched him all through the Baltimore days. Hes just dynamic when it comes to getting these guys to play.

This week, perhaps, well find out how dynamic Tony Sparano can be when it comes to getting an all-time great to stay.

This Week’s Djia Earnings Expectations (aa, Intc, Jpm, Bac, Ge.

This is the official kick-off of earnings season. Many stocks are at 52-week highs and we are coming off a stellar market performance over the last 13 months. There are 5 of the 30 Dow Jones Industrial Average components reporting this week. The 5 DJIA stocks reporting this week are Alcoa, Inc. (NYSE: AA), Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC), JP Morgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM), Bank of America Corporation (NYSE: BAC), and General Electric Co. (NYSE: GE).

We have of course shown the Thomson Reuters consensus targets, but we have also added in valuation and performance analysis and added in color on each expected reaction where applicable. Also disclosed today is a bias on each, showing an opinion of what the companies need to say or report to keep the bulls happy after these have all seen significant recoveries in their share prices.

Alcoa, Inc. (NYSE: AA) starts the Q1-2009 reporting period earnings season today after the closing bell. Thomson Reuters estimates are $0.10 EPS on $5.24 billion in revenue, down from $0.11 EPS estimates just on Friday on slightly higher revenue estimates. This will compare to a loss of -$0.59 EPS a year ago. If it gives guidance, the estimates are $0.23 EPS and $5.69 billion in revenue for next quarter and $0.75 EPS on $21.61 billion in revenues for fiscal 2010. As of Friday traded around 18-times forward earnings and its 52-week range is $8.10 to $17.60. There seems to be a neutral bias here on how the stock will react to earnings, meaning it would seem to rise with good news or fall with bad news more than other quarters. In mid-day trading, Alcoa is up 2% at $14.68.

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC) reports on Tuesday afternoon and Thomson Reuters consensus estimates are $0.38 EPS on $9.82 billion in revenues. We would caution that some analysts estimates are $0.40 and even $0.41 EPS and some expect revenue above $10 billion. Intel was at $20.79 before the last earnings report in January. With shares at $22.50, the 52-week range is $14.96 to $22.75. The 2010 estimate of $1.67 EPS gives this a multiple 13.4-times forward earnings. The issue is that Intel has jumped from the March 2009 lows, yet its stock on an earnings multiple is cheap for a near-monopoly. For big tech companies, our take ahead of earnings season is that there is already a lot of good news baked into the cake that will require more good news ahead to keep the bears from at least trying to come out of hibernation. Intel has a tax rate of only 12% last quarter versus a prior target of 20% expected, and its gross margin was up 12 points from a year earlier to a record of 65%.

Jamie Dimon and friends over at JP Morgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM) will be reporting earnings on Wednesday morning. Thomson Reuters has estimates of $0.64 EPS and $26.47 billion in revenues. With earnings estimates of $2.98 EPS as the consensus target for 2010, the current year multiple is roughly 15-times earnings, which sounds expensive for a bank in the new normal even if it is the best bank in America. Looking out a year, JP Morgan trades closer to 9.75-times the 2011 estimate of $4.68 EPS. With shares at $46.40, the 52-week trading range is $28.87 to $47.47. Meeting estimates and giving caution that the credit metrics are slowly improving probably wont satisfy the bulls. We expect the credit quality metrics should be the biggest key indicator here and that will be the number-one basis for how we interpret Jamie Dimons presentation. Banks have been urged to hold back on raising their dividends to build up capital, but Jamie Dimon has on more than one occasion indicated that the bank could raise its payout off the floor.

Bank of America Corporation (NYSE: BAC) is on deck Friday morning as the second of the huge money center banks reporting earnings this week. Thomson Reuters has estimates of $0.09 EPS and $27.73 billion in revenues. At $18.75 today, the 52-week range is something key to watch as that is $7.00 to $19.10. Just like in JP Morgan, we expect to hear upside to the individual credit metrics. We also expect that it will take a blowout quarter on the earnings side to keep the bulls from taking at least some profits here rather than just meeting estimates and staying conservative. This is the first real quarter under Brian Moynihan as its new CEO, so this unfortunately may still have a lot of of the getting to know you pleasantries and the notion of continuing to execute on its strategy rather than anything exceptionally new or enlightening.

General Electric Co. (NYSE: GE) is the Big Kahuna this week and we are going to get an opinion on many aspects of the economy based upon what we hear. Thomson Reuters has estimates of $0.16 EPS and $37.08 billion in revenues. Estimates next quarter are $0.25 EPS and $38.83 billion in revenue. GE has recovered from its financial woes and the stock has risen well over 100% from the March 2009 lows. With its earnings estimates of $1.02 EPS for 2010 and then $1.24 EPS for 2011, the translation is that the stock is no longer dirt cheap nor one where near-term downside could not be seen. Unless there is a significant beat on earnings and a raised guidance bias, then it seems that GE will probably take a breather. The good news there is that investors may get one more shot at getting in this while it is still trading in the teens. Morningstar gave a $25 fair value target recently over the long haul. Be on the lookout for the dividend to go up either with earnings or at the annual meeting later this month. Our take is that GE is still likely to begin raising its dividend before the already-telegraphed time period of 2011 as the year that dividends will grow.

As a reminder, all estimates are from Thomson Reuters and these estimates are subject to change at any time before the earnings report on each. After peers report earnings, estimates are far more likely to change.

Amy Mickelson – Usa Hot Issues

Augusta, and this is the way scripts that are supposed to unfold. Function carnival, complete with banners plane and the SWAT team daily, and dominated early in the week. Prudence and sport take more slowly. By the end of Sundays play-filled, complete with an episode of When pine attack, Masters and the story of perfection, and certainly at the end of perfection.

Phil Mickelson won the Masters. He had also met walking off the 18th green along with his wife, Amy, who had traveled to her first tournament since diagnosed with breast cancer 11 months ago. They had spent a full week in the family rented Augusta home.

Some moments in sports, lifting us more than others. This was one of them.

I really want to recognize my family and my wife, said Mickelson at the awards ceremony, his voice cracking. Weve been through a lot this year. This means a lot to share some happiness together. Its something well share the rest of our lives.

Mickelson has been criticized in the past for false perceptions, justified or not. But feelings do not get more real than what we saw this week. Poured and when it met for the first time with the media on Tuesday about the possibility that his family may have to join him in the tournament for the first time since May last year.

The next day, his three daughters has caddied in the championship par 3.

Amy stayed home, mostly in bed. Until Sunday. Appeared with his wife and daughters as Mickelsons second shot hit the green 18th, in the gallery. After sinking a putt on him to finish at 5 under for the day and 16 under for the tournament, Mickelson has embraced the box since a long time and close friend, Jim Bones Mackay. Then walked away from the green and Amy and embraced in an apparent forever.

I do not usually shed tears at the win, he said at a later date.

And won by three shots over Lee Westwood. A little further down the list: Tiger Woods five shots again. The theme (for better or worse) even took the courses. Woods powerful moments on Sunday (such as going

And fielding, birdie eagle birdie in one stretch) by too many bad (five concerns).

As he put it, Im not there yet.

Just as well. This was the story of Masters, and not a single newspaper. It was a struggle for Mickelson. The missed practice time with his wife and mother both being treated for breast cancer. He said that only one of the top-10 finish in seven games before this week.

Oh, and aggravation: On the eve of the final round, Mickelson oldest daughter broke her wrist skiing. Her father took X-rays at 10 and said he did not get to sleep until 1 am

Well, its just great.

Began in a single day on the firing of the Westwood. Then came one of those Why me? Moments in the second hole. Attacked the mother nature. Mickelson was lining up to putt 10 feet from the pine tree was dropped warp directly in the line of fire between the ball and the hole, just as it was in his backswing. The total strikeouts, such as pod speed bump. And went birdie potential bankrupt.

Mickelson: We must ask: Is someone to get you?

And grinding every day. Loaded with nine rounds of 10 and 11 deviated from its course and took refuge in the pine straw. But Mickelson battles back for Faris important. The birdie on 12 which leads to the first time.

On the 13th 5-handedly, whether taken over the bone or destiny. Tee shot went to the trees again. With play at once, and conventional thinking to do this role the province. But this is not Mickelson. He drove a 6-iron and the ball screamed through the trees, and before that from the grass just over the creek, and bounced three feet from the cup. A potential disaster was turned into a birdie near the access and just two bullets.

Mickelson: I need to trust my work and hit my shot.

The rest of the tour window dressing.

The network was Mickelsons first victory since the championship started a tour of the Middle Lake last September. The third Masters title, putting him in the category with Jimmy Demaret, Sam Snead, Gary Player and Nick Faldo.

But the numbers and Sunday secondary. His family was waiting outside the interview room.
