Electronics: A lot of electronics are made in Japan. The best time to get good deal is in the spring as they try to unload old inventory for the new fiscal year. Look at big screen TVs before the Super Bowl too! For home theaters, in general the holidays can be a good time and January. Computers, a good rule of thumb is the middle of summer to take advantage of the back-to-school sales or winter holiday markdowns.
Furniture: The best time to buy furniture is Feb-April and Aug-October. So do some planning and look around during these times, you'll find the deals.
Toys: Obviously the holiday season is one of the best times to buy toys. The problem with the holiday season is that everyone else is buying then too and you might not find what you want. Try the end of summer clearance and October!
Cookware: One is in the spring, in April and May, coinciding with the graduation and wedding season. The other is in October and November, with promotions in regard to the holidays.
Clothing: Off-Season, clearance, and try going on Thursdays. If you wait until the weekend you're likely to find other folks ransacking for the best deals and selections which means things have been picked through. And dont forget to bring coupons!

Consumer Reports Issues A Safety Risk Rating For Lexus Gx460.

Embattled Japanese automaker Toyota received another hammer-blow to its safety reputation on Tuesday as a respected US consumer magazine warned readers not to buy one of its Lexus models.
Consumer Reports gave the 2010 Lexus GX 460 SUV a rare "Don?t Buy: Safety Risk" rating after conducting tests on the car.
"When pushed to its limits on our track?s handling course, the rear of the GX we bought slid out until the vehicle was almost sideways before the electronic stability control system was able to regain control," the magazine said.
"We believe that in real-world driving, that situation could lead to a rollover accident, which could cause serious injury or death. We are not aware, however, of any such reports."
Toyota said it was concerned by the rating and had not experienced any similar problems in its own tests.
"We will try to duplicate the Consumer Reports' test to determine if appropriate steps need to be taken," the company said in a statement.
"Customer safety and satisfaction remain our highest priorities. We take the Consumer Reports' test results seriously and appreciate Consumer Reports bringing it to our attention."
The last time Consumer Reports issued a "Don't Buy" warning was 2001, for a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero.
Toyota has recalled millions of cars in the United States since late 2009, over a series of problems linked to "unintended acceleration."
The recalls have caused an outcry in the United States, with Toyota executives hauled over the coals by Congress and the company's previously stellar reputation for safety left in tatters.
The company faces a record 16.4 million dollar fine in the United States for hiding dangerous defects in its cars from consumers and watchdogs.
Toyota also has been hit with at least 97 lawsuits seeking damages for injury or death linked to sudden acceleration and 138 class action lawsuits from angry customers suing to recoup losses in the resale value of Toyota vehicles following the recalls.
It has also suspended production of some Lexus models in Japan over problems with the breaking system.

Pokmon Black And White Revealed
Fresh off the latest releases of HeartGold and SoulSilver (DS updates of past Game Boy versions of Pokmon), it seems that The Pokmon Company has revealed the newest edition of the popular franchise, Pokmon Black and White, which is scheduled for a Fall 2010 release in Japan.
While some fans seem taken aback by this almost random revealing and are wondering if it holds weight, it seems that this latest version of Pokmon does indeed exhibit many hints that make this revealing a legitimate announcement. For starters, the official Pokmon site has a mock-up logo of the game that has been seen on other popular Japanese sites as well. One of these sites also has a picture of one of the newest revealed Pokmon at the top, one that was designed and revealed by series designer Junichi Masuda himself.
With news already spreading about the newest Pokmon title, one site claims to already have leaked screens of the latest game, which resembles a top-down style the previous games exhibited but with brand new 3D environments and characters. With each new title taking full use of the newest technology it seems this might be the next logical step in the right direction for the decade old series, but until official confirmation arrives take these pictures with a grain of salt.
While none of us here can read Japanese, it seems that each site is eagerly anticipating the release of Black and White (as seen by the numerous exclamation points!!!) and that Japanese gamers will get their hands on the game at the end of the year. US and European gamers might have to wait a little longer, possibly until 2011 to try it out, but surely any news of a brand new Pokmon title is sure to give some fans a reason to keep an eye on any new information.
